[Fast Company] This company maps supply chains to identify—and prevent—forced labor

Sourcemap’s Forced Labor Due Diligence Solution is a winner in Fast Company’s 2023 World Changing Ideas Awards.

Ethical issues, from deforestation to labor concerns, can hide deep in a company’s supply chain. The most prominent issue is forced labor, affecting 28 million people around the world. But rooting out those bad actors can be difficult. Supply chains are gigantic, involving tens of thousands of companies—suppliers who have their own suppliers who have their own suppliers. Many businesses may not know who they’re really working with.

That’s where Sourcemap comes in. The company uses supply chain mapping software to track the raw materials—whether that’s the farms where the cotton is grown or the mines where minerals are found. Sourcemap has been working on forced labor prevention through this work for years, and in June 2022, the company launched a more tailored product, its Forced Labor Due Diligence Solution, to help companies comply with laws that ban products made with forced labor. This product is the winner of Fast Company’s World Changing Ideas Award in the Enterprise category.
